Navigating the Narrative: Making the Most of Character Arcs

October 8, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

writing seminar oct 8 2016 nanowrimo

Panster. Plotter. Outliner. Character Driven. No matter what kind of writer you might be, there will be times that it feels like your plot is running away from you. This FREE seminar will address how to make the most of the choices your characters make, the twists that your plot hooks into, and the way your antagonist reacts to the latest hurdle cleared by the protagonist. We’ll focus on taking advantage of the uniqueness of your story, and how to amp up the tension to keep readers turning pages.

When your characters or plot goes off script, it could be your writer instincts latching onto a more dynamic story. Or it could be a series of choices that led the story off course. This seminar will teach you a few strategies to evaluate what’s happening in your writing.

JR Wesley has hosted writer seminars in the Philadelphia area for the last three years. Whether you’ve attended before or if this is the first you’re hearing of the opportunity, come out to this FREE event. You’ll meet fantastic fellow writers plus have a chance to learn from an editor with seven years of experience. This event is hosted in coordination with the Philadelphia Free Writers Association and National Novel Writing Month.

(We’ll be in the conference room section of the Walnut Street West Library. That’s the first room on the left down the main hallway on the first floor – not the large room at the end of the hall.)
